How to Stay Visible & Get Involved in Your Target Market

  • Build Genuine Relationships
  • Grow & Help Your Network
  • Diversify Your Events

As real estate professionals, you’re constantly branding yourself and trying to bring awareness to your services. Since real estate is naturally personal, your interactions with others can make or break you landing more deals.

Whether you are representing yourself online or in person, your interactions and engagements with your target market will be crucial for how others think of you and will play a large role in getting more business.

Being active in your community is one of the best ways to help others see you as someone who they would want to represent them. Participating in your target market community shows that you are a leader and reliable. When partake in these activities you will naturally learn more about your community and learn how to better serve them.

Knowing how to serve your community is one of the best ways to engage and become a better business owner. Over time you will establish a good reputation in your community and start getting in front of more opportunities. What’s even better is serving more members of your community will also lead to more referrals. So we want to share some outreach strategies that will help you make stronger connections for your business.

Engage on social media

One of the best ways to reach out to potential customers is engaging on social platforms they are using. What’s great about social media is that it can cost as much or as little as you want it to. Many real estate professionals operate very successful businesses on old plain-jane organic social media.

At the end of the day, people are on social media to interact with one another on a personal basis. So it's important that your engagement style should be authentic to your business and to your personality. Generally speaking people tend to choose to work with who they like. So be a human and show a little personality. Very few people are on social media to clog up their feed with just sold signs.

One thing for sure: being consistent on social media is crucial. If you don’t have quality content ready to post everyday, dont stress, because interacting with others in social platforms comments can be equally as valuable.

Platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Reddit have tons of “groups” where you can engage with your community on interests, occupation, events, etc. No matter how you choose to get a conversation going, being present and consistent will certainly strengthen your reputation and relationships within the community.

Your personal and professional business pages on social media are great places to promote activities and start conversations with not only your family and friends but new prospects. Remember real estate marketing can take place in a lot of different styles.

Make sure you explore using stories, polls, and videos that can show both your personal and professional skills. You don’t have to be a pro on every platform but picking a strategy and sticking to it will lead you to better results.

Call your contacts

Grant Cardone once said “that aint no phone, that’s a weapon”.

So take it from one of the pros and know that setting aside time to call a few of your contacts and past clients can help your business grow. To help get a conversation going just call your relationships and ask about whats going on in their lives. Starting with established relationships is a great way to get people you are close with to refer business your way.

Pro Tip: Just simply asking them if they have any friends or contacts that would be a good fit to work with you can go a long way.

When you are actively collecting feedback on your calls you will naturally compile notes on areas for improvement and growth. Genuinely calling and helping people who are already in your social circle, is also a great way to ask for testimonials. It's aslo great way to catch up with past clients and get their perspective about your phone call delivery.

All the input and notes you can compile from starting some conversations can really create great material for your Authorized Website. Taking notes about whats going on in your community can be helpful for blog posts or newsletters. Calling your contacts is also a great way to be a reminder for your past clients to leave you a testimonial... at the very least let them know you want honest constructive feedback.

Checking in with your contacts should come off genuine and be casual. The conversation should not be focused on just real estate the whole time. This phone call should be about them. A genuine check in will strengthen your relationships and leave a lasting impression as someone who really cares about them beyond just being a paycheck.

Its horrible finding out a close relationship decided to work with a different real estate professional just because it slipped their mind. Realize that every once and awhile a quick phone call could lead to a transaction. Rome wasn’t built in a day, small actions everyday eventually turn into big action.

Host an event

An amazing way to give back to your community, make a positive impact, and promote your business is to host an event. Grab your calendar and check out the upcoming months and identify what Holidays or themes you may want to work around. Hosting events can be as simple as a cookout, virtual & wine tasting, or board game night. You don’t have to dred hosting an event that will end up stressing you out. A quick google search can inspire plenty of reasons to host an event and steal the day.

Hosting an event does take some planning and logistics, however since you will be the host, you will be on the top of people’s minds. A successful event will of course leave you looking like the hero for hosting a friendly get together. Of course hosting events will also introduce you to new faces and even lead to invites to attendees events. Larger events introduce you to more people but there is tremendous potential to build plenty of lasting relationships even if your events are small and intimate. You never know who may bring you your next source of business.

Hosting an event brings the community together and you also gives everyone a chance to network, while creating positive vibes in your target area. Unlike attending networking events, where you may feel obligated to spark unnatural conversations. Being the host, your guests will naturally want to greet you and introduce you to people they may have brought along. This of course encourages people to spark natural conversation with you that's more genuine and long lasting for your branding.

Join clubs

Joining a club or team is one of the most effective ways to meet new people who share your interests. It gives you the opportunity to link with people regularly and can be a great way to create connections. You can do a quick google search or jump on meet up sites and find that there are plenty of clubs getting together. After the covid pandemic there are tons of virtual meetups taking place all over the world. It’s a lot easier than you might think to find a club that sparks your personal interest and can also lead to relationships for your professional business.

Most cities offer sports leagues that range from competitive kickball to casual cornhole. If sports aren’t your thing, you can easily think of other ways to help grow your network, like cooking classes, art lessons, or game nights. There are plenty of options for authentically connecting with your target audience. Even if you just make an effort to connect with people at your local gym, improving your presence in local communities can be a great way to also improve your business.

Volunteer

Taking time to improve your community and helping others is very rewarding. More importantly it gives you a fresh perspective on knowing what your community deeply needs.

If you are passionate about a cause that aligns with your business, it's a no brainer to get involved. There is always something you can offer to help someone in need. Especially considering that giving back will eventually return value in one way or another.

Even if you just decide to pet puppies at your local dog shelter or cut your neighbors grass, serving your community is one of the most powerful ways you can become a friendly, reliable contact in your community.

Genuine acts of service will only build your reputation as a stand out person in your community. Don’t just volunteer to create and over share content for just a social media shoot. It's okay to promote your cause, but do not overshare putting yourself at risk for getting mutted. Know that your effort to give back will get noticed when you are consistent and genuinely give back.

Wrapping Up

To wrap up the mix of activities we mentioned, just know that interacting with your target market in an authentic way is absolutely essential to growing your brand. It’s guaranteed to separate you from the competition and also highlights the compassionate side of your personality.
